BECKWITH - Looking for marriage of Emma G. BECKWITH and Harry E. GETCHELL about 1901 or 1902. Their first born were twins Ray and Roy b: June 14, 1902 at Silver Creek, NE. The 1900 federal census shows Emma in the Beckwith household in Polk Co, Silver Creek Township. Harry died 18 Feb 1919 at Silver Creek. GABRIEL - researching the families related to Ambrose and Anna GABRIEL. There were 10 children to this union. Most of the Gabriels and spouses are at rest in Polk County. Their daughter Anna, b. May 1879 married Henry M. Wilson, both are at rest in Omaha. They lived in Silver Creek, Merrick Co. for a short while, 1898-about 1901, where my grandfather was born. HANEY - Seeking information on the HANEY family who was in Polk County in about 1875. Frank HANEY and his wife, Mary GABRIEL immigrated from Germany to the US in about 1874, with at least 1 child (probably more) and had at least 2 more children in Nebraska: Mary HANEY b: 1875 Polk Co, and Louise b: 1880 in Polk County. By 1900 Frank HANEY had been deceased for some time as Mary GABRIEL HANEY, his wife, had already remarried 2 times, once to Mr. LANGHOFF and then in 1886 in Platte Co NE to widower Robert SCHAAD. Sister Annie married to a HAKEL, either Ernest or Louie who moved to Grand Junction, CO. Most of family appeared to be farmers. My father, John Aloysuis HANKS, was born 30 Jun 1914,in Columbus, Platte Co., NE. Younger brother, Herman. Both boys were taken away from the parents and sent to Father Flanagan's Boys Town in Omaha, NE on 5 Jul 1922. His mother's address at the time was shown as Shelby, NE as well as Arlington, NE. Rufus Washington INGALLS fought in the Union Army 1861, Ohio Infantry Co. A, 40th Regiment. Mary Ida Ingalls b: 1861, d: 1930 married to Charles Krumbach, b: 1852, d: 1917. JACOBSON - Looking for Johannes Olaf JACOBSON descendants. He was born in Saby, Sweden in 1836. Married Hedda Lovisa Johannesdotter (born 1839 in Saby, Sweden). They immigrated to Nebraska in 1878 and are in the 1880 census in Wahoo precinct. Hedda or Hedvig Lovisa and Johannes had many children: Helga Sofia 1863, Axel Johan 1865, Hedda 1866, Carl David 1876 in Sweden, perhaps Joseph 1880 and Harry 1887 in Nebraska. I don't know when Hedda died so I don't really know if Joseph and Harry are hers or a second wife's. My mother has a picture of some of the family including Harry on which she wrote that J.O. had married Nils Swanson's (formerly Swan Nelson) sister, maiden name Nelson. KELLY (KELLEY) - Looking for information on my grandfather's brother, Thomas KELLY (or Kelley) who was born in Tisrara, County Roscommon, Ireland about 1862 and died in Nebraska in 1890. KELLER - looking for information on the following families that were in the Osceola area at the turn of the century. Benhard Keller, died by his own hand March 6, 1925. His wife was in the Regional Center in Norfolk and died in 1929. Joseph Tschauner was her guardian and his wife was the informant for the death certificate of Benhard Keller, which leads me to believe that Joseph was married to one of Benhard and Mary's daughters. KILZER - looking for any Kilzer's that were in Seward County from 1883 until probably 1915. Fred KILZER was born 11 Nov 1883 and both of his parents I believe died in Seward county. STROMSBURG ORPHANAGE - Looking for information on an orphanage in Stromsburg in 1910/1920 operated by a Lutheran Church. My father Frank George KORN arrived there on an orphan train from New York City in Dec 1913. He went to live with Samuel and Hilda PETERSON from Swedesburg in Feb, 1914, and was legally adopted in 1920. I would like information concerning him or the orphanage. SUNDIN - Anton and Erik Axel; Two brothers who registered for the WW I draft in Polk County 1917. They probably lived in Polk County since 1913 (E. Axel) and possibly earlier (Anton). Searching for the burial location of three persons, James C. VAN WEY, his wife, Mary and their daughter Eliza Jane VAN WEY, (also known as Eliza WILSON, or Eliza EYLER). James passed away on 4 Jan 1920, his obit ran in the Osceola Record on 8 Jan 1920, and it stated that his remains were brought to Osceola and laid to rest in the cemetery there, not stating which cemetery. Eliza passed 27 Oct 1922 in Omaha, but was also returned to the Shelby-Osceola area for burial. Her obituary was printed under the name of Van Wey, although she was married to Martin L. Eyler at the time. I have checked the Polk County cemetery records at the courthouse and none of these folks are entered in the records. WHEELER - My great, great grandfather Robert WHEELER settled in Polk County in the 1870's or 1880's. Later he became a District Judge, possibly around Lincoln, and then moved to Tecumseh, Okla. around 1900, where he lived until his death in 1937. He was at first a farmer, then read law, was possibly a partner with Albiunus Nance, until Nance became Governor of Nebraska. Any info you can provide on his Polk Co. days would be appreciated. WILSON - Looking for any information regarding John D. WILSON and Amelia KING, his wife. Amelia died in 1877, and is buried in the Blue Ridge Cemetery. They had five children, Dora, b. 1867, Elvin, b. 1869, Early(Florence), Henry and Laura. The latter two were given up for adoption after Amelia died. John married again to Artha, according to the 1880 Census. John had a brother Henry living with him as well. He had a livery business in Osceola in 1880 and 1881. WORTMAN - Ulysses S. Grant RAMAGE & Mary Tipton MYERS RAMAGE, after marriage in Zanesville, OH in 1900, opened a small general store in Polk, Polk County, NE. My grandfather (1870-1963) first came to Nebraska from Ohio in late 19th century to work on his uncle "Con" WORTMAN's farm, supposedly near Central City, NE. But after my grandparents moved to Nebraska, they convinced many of their relatives to follow them. I have, so far, been unable to find any trace of Con WORTMAN in Merrick County and thought perhaps the family's verbal history was wrong; that Con WORTMAN was actually in Polk County and that's why Grant & Mary RAMAGE opened their first store in Polk. "Con" was apparently brother of my great grandmother, Huldah WORTMAN RAMAGE. She and her husband, Joseph A. RAMAGE, also moved to Nebraska after their son Grant married Mary Tipton Myers. Huldah and Joseph are both buried in Polk, IF anyone has any connection, am anxious to find Con WORTMAN's line. (6 Sep 1999) Contact: Richard Ramage
